The purpose of our “Page-Turners” program is to promote a love of reading in our McKeown students. We believe that the more positive experiences a child has with reading, the more motivated the child will be to read and improve reading skills. As our “Page-Turners” share their love and enjoyment of reading, students are exposed to a variety of books and authors.
Each “Page-Turners” session lasts about eight weeks. Our first session of this year will begin February 25th and end on May 16th. Each week McKeown parents, guardians, community members, and grandparents volunteer to come in to read to students for around twenty minutes. We have had fantastic groups of reading volunteers for the last three years! The students looked forward to seeing their “Page-Turners” each week and listening to fun, enjoyable literature. Who doesn’t enjoy hearing a good book?
If you have 30 minutes you could volunteer each week, we invite you to share your love of reading with McKeown students in our “Page-Turners” program. A collection of appropriate books will be available for you and the students to enjoy.
